The name ‘Lava’ is inspired by Auckland’s volcanic origins which is reflective in the backlit undersea marble interior, suggestive of the flow from this remarkable force of nature.

Nestled within Auckland’s Viaduct Harbour overlooking the Waitemata Basin and city skyline, Lava Dining sits alongside a stunning waterfront oasis, where the sun sets over languid yachts anchored in the Marina, and the city beckons beyond.

The menu by Chef Emmanuel Jerz, reflects classic French technique blended with fine local produce, as well as award-winning fine wines from New Zealand and France. Indulge in a menu of flavoursome dishes, in-season specialities and low-calorie De-Light choices.

Our popular 30-minute Express Lunch is a value-offer featuring three courses, for those who are short on time.

Enjoy marina views in an exclusive section of the stunningly designed, marble-lined restaurant. Emmanuel’s wealth of culinary expertise, creativity and impeccable attention to detail are synonymous with the refined ethos of Sofitel gastronomy.

Sofitel Auckland welcomes our new Executive Chef, the exceptionally-talented Emmanuel Jerz.

French native Emmanuel joins us with a wealth of experience in some of Paris’ finest kitchens including The Ritz Paris’ Michelin-starred restaurant, Guy Savoy and the Michelin-starred, Restaurant Lasserre.

Emmanuel’s journey to New Zealand is one of adoration for a country he now calls home. Emmanuel is very passionate about our fine local produce and is very excited to introduce diners to his culinary style which blends a passion for classic technique with your exquisite local seafood, produce and proteins. With enthusiasm , Emmanuel exclaims, “My philosophy is always to let the ingredients and the flavours speak first in a dish. Then through technique, I execute and bring them to life”.
